Plethysmography is a non-invasive pulmonary function test that assesses respiratory mechanics based on the results obtained during breathing. The test involves special maneuvers such as airway occlusion and uses the relationship between airflow and plethysmographic pressure variations as a principle. Because it is highly sensitive, it can accurately detect changes in the lungs, measuring all lung volumes and capacities, which are essential in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as cystic fibrosis and asthma.
