Gavi® is the world’s first automated vitrification instrument designed by embryologists who wanted better control over the variables involved in manual vitrification – temperature, embryo handling, cryoprotectant concentrations and the equilibrium/vitrification time ratio. The goal is controlled, stage-specific vitrification carried out in a standardized way.

Gavi® helps to achieve optimal vitrification conditions in a different way. It vitrifies oocytes, cleavage-stage embryos or blastocysts using an automated, standardized and controlled protocol.

The oocytes/embryos are kept in the Gavi® pod, the specially designed device that acts as the container for the oocytes/embryos with storage in liquid nitrogen (LN2). Gavi® can vitrify 8 oocytes and cleavage-stage embryos simultaneously and 4 blastocysts simultaneously. Gavi® enables:

  • Automated solution distribution.
  • Gavi® Pod design: designed to hold embryos in place during fluid exchange and storage in liquid nitrogen (LN2), and to allow rapid cooling and heating rates.
  • Exposure control.
  • Temperature control.
  • Reduces the risk of cross-contamination.

 

Gavi® pods are safely stored in specially designed single or double level Gavi® liquid nitrogen storage dividers.

  • A robotic liquid handling unit dispenses the required solutions with a precision that is difficult to achieve manually, eliminating the need to manually move embryos between fluids.
  • Thin capsule walls to ensure rapid vitrification and heating rates.
  • Automated sealing to ensure the capsule is “fully closed” to eliminate the risk of LN2 contamination.
