The K5 is the 4th generation of Cosmed’s portable metabolic system. It is a device designed to measure metabolic parameters (VO2, VCO2, ventilation, HR, energy expenditure, etc.) in both clinical and research environments. It is equipped with rubber caps that protect the K5 from water, dirt and dust, making it perfect for use while outdoors. The K5’s extensive list of unique features expands its scope of use from clinical settings to sports performance evaluation.

The K5 uses the latest technology, including COSMED’s 4th generation opto-electronic scanner and proven, reliable high-resolution, fast-response O2 (GFC) and CO2 (NDIR) sensors. With breath-by-breath metabolic sampling technology or as an option using the microdynamic mixing chamber – IntelliMET™ technology (US Patent 9581539).

The single-module design (with internal battery) reduces weight and improves ergonomics. The new harness (with 2 sizes) is comfortable and offers freedom of movement during testing. Alternatively, the K5 can be placed on an integrated tripod stand.

Robust device designed for outdoor use: all plugs, connectors and covers are protected by seals and are resistant to water, humidity and dust. Touchscreen technology allows it to be used with gloves or wet fingers.
Users can easily access and replace the O2 sensor, battery and SD card (for extra storage capacity).

The K5’s screen ensures simplified navigation and quick access to all commands and features. The status bar provides information on time, date, battery status, Bluetooth, GPS and notification icons.
The K5 can be integrated with the world’s largest sports sensor network. Up to 8 wireless devices can be connected to the K5 via the ANT+ protocol.
